Have you heard of the first collision of satellites in Earth's orbit? Scientists are keeping a close eye on orbital debris created when two communications satellites collided...One Russian and the other was American.

The collision occurred nearly 500 miles over Siberia on Tuesday...the first high speed impact between spacecraft. Experts still can't determine the full magnitude of the crash and how many pieces are floating around. NASA said, they will be playing "dodgeball" with their satellites until they know more about the situation.

This crash happened at a popular orbit so the debris will pose a serious threat to other satellites. The U.S. military is already tracking 18,000 objects so now they have more on the list. NASA says, the pieces will probably orbit the Earth for 10,000 years.
